Nevada Teacher Licensure Requirements

Nevada Teacher Licensure Requirements – Family Engagement Courses

Effective July 2015, initial licensees require at least 3 semester hours regarding parental involvement and family engagement that is consistent with the elements and goals for effective involvement and engagement set forth in NRS 392.457; and includes an emphasis on building relationships, outreach to families, and developing an appreciation and understanding of families from diverse backgrounds.

While FACES does offer teacher training in the area of family engagement as contact units for the Professional Growth Plan, courses approved by the state must be taken in order to fulfill licensure requirements. A list of these courses can be found at http://www.doe.nv.gov/Family_Engagement/Approved_Courses/.

The College of Southern Nevada, Grand Canyon University, Great Basin College, National University, Nevada State College, Sierra Nevada College, Southern Utah University, Touro University, UNLV, UNR, and the University of Phoenix all offer the approved coursework.
